The Pennsylvania Society of Public Accountants has announced it will change its name to the Pennsylvania Society of Tax & Accounting Professionals, effective November 1, 2012.
The name change follows PSTAP’s research initiative and membership vote. PSTAP also wanted to eliminate confusion concerning which professionals were eligible for membership into the society. The organization has also launched a rebranding campaign that includes a new logo and tagline – “Leverage the power of smaller practices.” An improved website and enhanced membership outreach initiative are planned to follow the rebranding campaign.
“Changing our name to Pennsylvania Society of Tax & Accounting Professionals launches a fresh, progressive image for us, underscoring our recent growth,” said President Francis J. Cellini, EA, ABA, ATA. “We are proud to serve our existing members, while welcoming the next generation of best-in-breed practitioners. Our new name reflects our past as well as our future.”
The society was founded in 1946 and has provided continuing education and legislative advocacy to its members, as well as offering resources and networking opportunities. PSTAP is most known for assisting smaller firms and sole practitioners that represent small business and individual taxpayers.
“Our name has changed, but what we stand for remains constant,” said Executive Director, Sherry L. DeAgostino. “We are here to promote and protect our members’ interests and help them in every aspect of their business, from professional development to programs and resources specifically tailored to smaller practices.”
